Though Jesus came down by reason of the love of God, he also came with additional assignments. And one of them was to stir up the fire in you and me to battle the enemy. Jesus declares in Luke 12:49 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled”!
For those of us that are not aware, there is a war going on in the reals of the spirit, and we find ourselves in the midst of a fierce battle. God didn’t plan for us to become casualties of war. Man was born at a time of war but God didn’t plan for us to become casualties of war. For the Scriptures declare in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Why is there war? What is the cause of it?
The Scriptures exposed the intent that the devil declares in his heart in Isaiah 14:13-14, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
He is the enemy of all righteousness, goodness, peace and an enemy of Jesus Christ. He is the accuser, the thief, liar, and murderer from the beginning. He sways one-third of the angels, plotted a coup against God Almighty but failed. When the battle was so fierce, God did something. God, a man of war took drastic measures to change the outcome of this war. We see the death of Jesus Christ as an act of love from God and this is very true. But another critical look at the death of Jesus Christ reveals that it was an act of war. The word of God uncovers this mystery in Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son but delivered Him up for us all to bring total redemption of mankind. Jesus Christ was slain/sacrificed to cause great indignation against the enemy. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. In another place, the bible says ‘And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made. Revelation 13:8 NLT
When we look at 2 Kings 3:26-27, it says ‘And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.
Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
This is why the devil has to step back, for the blood of Jesus Christ has provoked God to arise. The word indignation means A FEELING OF RIGHTEOUS ANGER. The synonym is AN OUTRAGE. So, believers have been given power through their faith in the blood of Jesus to overcome the enemy. Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.
The devil never knew that by slaying Jesus, he was sealing his fate of perpetual defeat. 1 Corinthians 2:8 says ‘Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.’ Therefore, Jesus Christ came to destroy the devil and his works forevermore. 1 John 3:8 states that He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
When you understand that God is angry and his plan is to destroy the devil and everything that belongs to the devil, you will stand in that confidence and rise to attack the devil relentlessly. You don’t take for granted your praise of God, your worship of God, personal quiet time, meditation, and prayers room, they are your weapons of war to defeat the enemy of your life. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) God has made the believer a dangerous soldier, so that by the swing of the sword, a 10000 shall fall. So, let arise today and fight for the Lord is our banner and the victory is ours in Christ Jesus. Amen
